My new book young adult book, The Feathered Tree is out now in a very desirable limited run hardback edition.

I have a small number of signed copies available postage free in the United Kingdom.

The book is set in the modern day and takes place in and around the fictional town of Barton in North Devon. The book’s main character is a 16 year old girl called Polly, and the book would certainly appeal to girls in their early to middle teens – although it could be enjoyed just as much by  boys and by adults of any age who like stories about ancient magic and folklore and nature and the old, hidden ways.

Polly loves nature and her best friend and closest confidant is a beech tree which stands alone on a small hill at the bottom of her garden. When her tree is brutally hacked down one stormy night, Polly’s suspicions fall on a school bully and her gang. Despite setbacks, Polly is desperate to get to the bottom of this vandalism, but the truths she discovers on her quest send her far beyond the world of school bullies and into a secret magical realm where hidden things thrive in a reality stranger than anything she could possibly have imagined.

Praise for The Feathered Tree.

“From the moment I started reading The Feathered Tree I was hooked. It most certainly is a remarkable and joyous piece of storytelling.” Amber J Caraveo of Skylark Literary Agency.

“A Beautiful light story which I really, really enjoyed reading. Allan Frewin Jones is able to captivate the reader in his descriptions of nature.” Amber Reads.

The book is published by Blue Poppy Publishing (www.bluepoppypublishing.co.uk), a small publisher based in Devon, England. I recommend you check them out – you will find some great books there.

For the moment, The Feathered Tree has a limited run which retails for £15. I can offer a small number of signed (and dedicated) copies, for £15, post free in the UK. If you would like a signed copy, please send me a private message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you live on Continental Europe and would like a signed copy, please get in touch by 15th July and I should be able to arrange something less expensive than the normal postage rate from the UK.

Sadly, the cost of international postage is so high, that I am not able to mail books to America etc, but if you are desperate for a copy, send me a message and I’ll see if something can be worked out.

Some songs you can sing
Some songs sing you.

Polly is the perfect hero for our time, working through grief and finding breathless romance while gaining understanding of what most humans fail so miserably to inherit.

Nature desperately needs defenders like Polly.

So, uncurl your long-forgotten claws and scratch deep beneath the surface of your assumed reality.

Unfurl your long-neglected wings and soar high above the divine West Country landscapes you think you know.

Widen your eyes and cast, like caution, your disbelief to the winds that shapes the trees and tors.

Watch out for the bullies, the mindless vandalism, the everyday country folk and the dwellers of deeper time.

Witness geese or ghosts, first kisses and impossible secrets, and find where bloodlines and saplines entangle.

The Feathered Tree, a heartfelt ballad of a book, a folkloric lament passionately underscored by the untamed music of a wild-hearted world.

Listen, most carefully, and you will hear voices. Listen longer and deeper and you will hear the howling song of everything.

John Wilkinson.
